What is Memotus?

Memotus is a messaging service tailored for caregivers and patients to be able to communicate with each other in a safe, easy, fast and legal manner. GDPR and the patientdatalagen (Patient Data Act) make sms, mail and common apps illegal. Memotus is a legal alternative with identification via BankID. You can send texts, pictures, videos and documents encrypted and secure. It is an app that can be used on smartphones and tablets regardless of iOS or Android. Memotus is not an online medical service or digital clinic with live video meetings, but a messaging service that all caregivers can use to communicate with patients.

Who can use Memotus?

Memotus can be used by caregivers, patients and individuals. All caregivers and patients can use the app to communicate with each other. As an individual you can also use the app to get in touch with a chosen caregiver to buy counseling digitally. For example, to buy an training program to prevent injuries when exercising or buy a rehab program to deal with an already diagnosed injury.

For which cases can Memotus be used?

It is always up to the caregiver to decide which cases are suitable for using Memotus but as a patient you can always contact your caregiver and ask questions. It is also the caregiver who determines how much communication about a specific case that is required and when the case can be concluded. Examples of cases from the caregiver view may be to follow up on rehab training, to increase a rehab program, to assess when the next physical meeting with the patient is needed, to follow up status after an surgery or to book the next meeting. Examples of cases from the patients view may be asking if the rehab exercise is performed correctly, asking for a physical meeting or just thanking for great help.

For which cases should Memotus not be used?

Memotus should never be used for injuries or situations that are acute or life-threatening.

When can Memotus be used?

Memotus is designed so that the app can be used anytime, anywhere and as much as you want as long as you have internet access. As a patient, messages can be sent at any time. A caregiver decides for himself or herself whether Memotus is used at a specific time during working hours (similar to telephone reception) or if the app is used freely during the day. No appointments are needed and there will be no cancellations. It is up to the caregiver to decide when and to what extent Memotus should be used. The caregiver has the opportunity to control whether communication should take place with the option to use all file formats (texts, pictures, videos, documents) or if the communication should only be done via short text messages. The caregiver also determines when a case is handled to the level that it should be closed.

Does not care for injuries and minor issues require me to meet someone physically?

Well, in most cases, care for injuries and minor issues requires that you meet someone physically. The body part needs to be squeezed, felt, tested, X-rayed and so on. Memotus is a complement to physical care and should definitely not be seen as an alternative to physical care. Through easy and accessible communication via Memotus, it is possible to handle situations and issues that arise between physical meetings and which can almost always be managed digitally.

How does Memotus work?

You can send messages and choose to attach videos, texts, pictures and documents. Caregivers also have the opportunity to edit patients' videos.

It is easy to add a new patient directly to the app by entering the social security number and email address. As a patient, you log in with your BankID and find your caregiver on your starting page in the app. All conversations are saved in the app under the respective patient and caregiver.

Memotus is a messaging service where the caregiver can control both the amount and content of conversations with their patients based on the need for each specific case. The caregiver can always end a conversation when the case is deemed to be done.

Private caregivers also have the opportunity to charge from their patients directly in the app. We take care of the financial administration and make monthly payments of these revenues. This means that individuals can buy counseling from any caregiver in Memotus.

How do I log in and out of the app?

Login is via BankID for both caregivers and patients. No username or password is needed. You will find the log out on your profile page.

On what platforms does Memotus work?

Memotus works for both iOS and Android. If you have an older model of iPhone or Android, some views in the app may look different. Although the appearance can be affected, all functions should work. The app is primarily intended for use on smartphones but also works on most tablets.

What is the difference between sjukgymnast and physiotherapist?

In the app you can find caregivers who call themselves sjukgymnast or physiotherapist. Both titles refer to the same competence. Physiotherapist is the international name for sjukgymnast and is today the official title of legitimation even in Sweden. But both sjukgymnast and physiotherapist are used in the industry.

How can we start communicating?

It is easy for caregivers to add a new patient directly to the app by entering the social security number, e-mail address and at the same time send a message to the patient. That will trigger an e-mail including a download linkthat is sent to the patient. That makes it easy for the patient to find and download the Memotus app free of charge from the App Store or Play Store. Patients log in with BankID and find the message in their inbox and their caregiver on their starting page. Caregivers decides whether communication should be via all file formats (images, texts, videos, documents) or through text messages. Caregivers also determines when a case can be considered clear and should be closed.

How much and when can we communicate?

What if I do not receive a reply to my message?

As a caregiver you always have the opportunity to send a new message without waiting for a response from the patient. If you are a patient and your caregiver has given you the opportunity to communicate through all file formats (pictures, texts, videos, documents) then you always have the opportunity to send a new message without waiting for a response from your caregiver. If you communicate via text messages and you do not receive a reply, you have the opportunity to send a new text message 7 days after the previous text message was sent. If for any reason you suspect that the service is faulty and messages are not reaching the recipient, please contact us at support@memotus.se so that we can investigate if, and if so, what went wrong.

Where should a patient turn with remarks on communication via Memotus?

If you have remarks regarding the content of the communication with a caregiver, then you have to contact the specific caregiver with your remarks. Memotus is a messaging service that can be used by caregivers and patients. No caregivers are employed by Memotus. All communication that occurs via Memotus must be assessed by the caregiver if it is suitable to be managed digitally or if a physical meeting is required. However, if you have technical opinions regarding the use of the app itself, we would like you to contact us at support@memotus.se and we will do our best to respond as quickly as possible.

Is it possible to make appointments for physical meetings via the app?

There is no appointment booking system via the app for physical meetings, but it is of course free for caregivers and patients to agree on appointments by communicating via Memotus.

How is Memotus different from online doctors or digital health centers?

Memotus is a messaging service - not a healthcare provider. Simply put, Memotus works like Messenger or WhatsApp and is tailored for healthcare. At the digital health centers or online doctors, the caregivers are employed. Memotus is not a workplace, but a tool that all caregivers can use to communicate with their patients in a simple and legal way.

Can I use Memotus when I'm abroad?

Yes. Memotus is only available for download in the Swedish App Store and Play Store but if you have downloaded the app to your smartphone then you can use it even when you are abroad.

What is the cost of using Memotus?

Caregivers pay a monthly or annual fee to use the app (see below). Patients always use the app free of charge except when buying advice from private caregivers.

Regular price - SEK 200 per month (annual payment)

Finish when you want - SEK 300 per month (monthly payment)

Will I receive a receipt if I buy advice from a private caregiver via Memotus?

Yes, the receipt will be sent to the email address you provide at the account registration.

What do I do if a payment fails?

There may be several reasons why your payment may not be processed. The most common reasons are that there is not enough money in the account or that the card details you entered are incorrect. It may also be that your bank requires you to open the card for internet payments (for example Nordea). If so, log into your online internet bank and open / allow internet payments.

Who is behind Memotus?

The company Instrube Health AB has developed the Memotus app.

The team is a mix of entrepreneurs, developers, and caregivers with experience from various areas of healthcare. During the journey, a large number of people with patient experience have also been included in the work. A common driving force for everyone who are and has been involved so far is the willingness to help make it possible for patients to get in touch with their caregiver when they want, no matter where they are and when they are in need. This is no easy challenge and the entire healthcare system is trying to solve it. With Memotus as a natural link between caregivers and patients, we help solving this challenge.
